Hello and welcome to “Functionality after Phalloplasty.” This website is an educational resource created by Erin Taylor, OT/s, an occupational therapy student. It focuses on the radial forearm-flap phalloplasty procedure. It includes five different educational modules.

Interactive Components: Each module includes interactive components for providers wanting to practice their skills and test their knowledge. These components feature three fictional characters. Meet them here:

“Ezra” is a transgender man getting phalloplasty surgery. He is getting surgery in New York, at a major hospital, and will stay in an AirBNB after surgery for four weeks as he is recovering. After surgery, he will go home to Ann Arbor, Michigan.

“Arden” (they/them) is a non-binary person getting phalloplasty surgery. Arden lives in Oakland, near San Francisco where they are getting surgery. They will head home when they are discharged from the hospital and will receive outpatient care in the same hospital. They will be cared for by a network of friends, but they do not have one designated caregiver.

“Annie” (she/her) is the partner of Ezra. She will be caring for him during his recovery. She works full-time as a graphic designer and is able to work from home during Ezra’s recovery.
